Home - Cape Ann Vacations: Travel Guide to New England's Premier Destination

For summer of 2009:

Join The Whale Center of New England on our research vessel, Mysticete for a day on Stellwagen Bank. We’ll take up to six passengers three days a week through mid-September.

A trip aboard the Mysticete is an unforgettable experience. Participants spend a full day with whales and have the unique opportunity to help us gather data. By spending more time on the water we see a variety of whale species and behaviors. Cruises include a variety of research components, depending upon what nature offers that day. There is ample opportunity to interact with the Whale Center scientists in informal discussion. Also: many great photo opportunities! People leave the Mysticete awed by what they have seen and done during their day at sea.
Cruises last a full day (7 AM to approximately 4 PM). The cost is $125 per member and $140 per non-member. Reservations and a 50% (non-refundable) deposit are required.

Email us at info@whalecenter.org for more information. For trip availability or to reserve a spot please call 978-281-6351. See www.whalecenter.org to learn about The Whale Center of New England.

See the skeleton of Inland, a young humpback that spent months living inside North Shore harbors before becoming entangled off of Virginia Beach.

Learn about the behavior and biology of marine mammals in local waters, as well as about world-wide research and conservation efforts. Common questions like "Why do whales breach?" or "Why do dolphins become stranded?" are answered.

Check out our gallery of marine mammal photos and informative books on marine mammals for all ages. Proceeds help us to study and conserve whales, dolphins, seals, and other marine mammals.

Admission is free, although donations are appreciated.

The Whale Center is located at 24 Harbor Loop in Gloucester. Open 11-7 daily in the summer and 9-5 weekdays the rest of the year. www.whalecenter.org
