Beauport, Sleeper-McCann House, the summer home of Henry Davis Sleeper,
an interior designer and collector who began building his retreat in 1907. Today
the house and rooms remain virtually as Sleeper left them with a lifetime collection
that includes period furniture, colored glass, ceramics, hooked rugs and curiosities.
Beauport, owned and operated by Historic New England, is a National Historic Landmark.
Open June 1 - October 15, Tuesday - Saturday. Tours offered on the hour, 10:00
a.m. - 4:00 p.m. $10/ adult, $5/ student and child 6 - 12, historic New England
members and Gloucester residents free. Enjoy
a first-run independent or foreign film at the Cape Ann Community Cinema
in a most unique setting with tables, couches and a variety of comfortable chairs.
Tickets are $9.00 adults, $7.50 seniors & students, and as little as $5.00

COGSWELL'S GRANT, a historic house museum with a renowned collection of American
folk art. This 18th century farmhouse overlooking the Essex River was the summer
home of collectors Bertram and Nina Fletcher Little, and houses their celebrated
collection of American folk art. The rooms are overflowing with primitive paintings,
redware, painted furniture, shaker boxes, hooked rugs, weathervanes and decoys.
Everything is displayed as the family lived with it and shared it with their friends
and fellow collectors. Launch
your boat and park your car and trailer at the Essex Marina for $25 while
enjoying the Essex River, beaches and Essex Bay. Call 978 768 6833 for additional

Essex Shipbuilding Museum tells the extraordinary story of a small New England
village that built more two-masted wooden fishing schooners than any other place
in the world. Open Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through October

Heritage Center. Indoor/outdoor exhibits focusing on the history of the fishing

Take
a self-guided tour of medieval-style Hammond Castle, home of inventor John
Hays Hammond, Jr. Open Saturdays and Sundays through October 17, 10:00 a.m. -
4:00 p.m. (Last tickets sold at 3:30 p.m.) $10/ adult, $8/ senior, $6/ child (6-12) The
Paper House is actually made from paper! It was built as a summer home in
1922 by Elis F. Stenman, a mechanical engineer who designed the machines that
make paper clips. Open through October, $1.50/ adult, $1/ child honor system admission. Tour
two historic Rockport properties maintained by Sandy Bay Historical Society, the
Sewall-Scripture House, built in 1832(40 King Street) and the Old Castle,
