Open house in stores, hayrides, caroling. Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday 12 noon to 5 p.m. Santa arrives by boat on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by the Jingle Bell Walk. Friendship tree lighting on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

December 1

Christmas Tree, Wreaths, & Decorations Sale organized by Boy Scout Troop 3, Scout House on School St., Fridays, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.; Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Sundays, 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Through December 23.

Christmas by the Sea, Open house in shops, Cape Ann Jazz Band from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.

Paint Your Own Pottery, Coastal Arts Center, 29RR Central Street, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Manchester Public Library is hosting "Alexander The Jester of Fools". All ages are welcome for this madcap combination of comedy, juggling, medieval mime and more! 10:30 a.m. First Parish Chapel next door. Free tickets may be picked up in the Children's Room of the Library. Followed by an Open House with cider and cookies.Sponsored by the Friends.

Captain Dusty's Ice Cream, 12:00 noon- 4:00 p.m. A special one-day opening with seasonal flavors (Egg Nog Ice Cream!) and discounts on gift certificates.

Santa's Arrival by Boat, Masconomo Park, 1:00 p.m.

Jingle Bell Walk, 1:00 p.m., following Santa's arrival. From Masconomo Park to Singing Beach and back to the Community Center for hot chocolate and cookies. Sponsored by the Manchester Community Center and the Mothers' Club. Enjoy a horse-drawn hayride through town after the walk.

Manchester Community Center Open House, 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. Visit with Santa after the walk.

Holiday Season Potpourri, 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m., Manchester Public Library. Make potpourri to simmer at home. School age children through adults.

December 2

Christmas by the Sea, Open house in shops. Petting zoo from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Crosby's Market.

Christmas Program and Lighting of the Friendship Tree, First Parish Church Congregational, 3:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Manchester Women's Club.

December 5

Chamber of Commerce Christmas Party, The Landing at Seven Central, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Members and friends are invited to exchange holiday greetings. Plus the drawing of the Lucky 9 Raffle.

Manchester Public Library Winter Crafts, 3:30 p.m. Make a gift for a parent, grandparent, sister, brother or friend. We'll have several possibilities to choose from and you can make more than one. Sign up so we'll have plenty of materials. (978) 526-7711.

High Shool Winter Concert, Memorial School, 7:30 p.m.

December 8

Holiday Craft Fair, Manchester Community Center, 10:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m. Shop with eight local artisans.

Seaside Cycle Annual Open House, 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

December 9

Santa's Ride Around Town on a Firetruck, 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. Sponsored by the American Legion Post #113 and the Seaside Fireman's Club of the Manchester Fire Department.

December 12

Children's Holiday Story Time, Manchester Public Library, 3:30 p.m. Holiday stories
and cookies for all. Reading traditional and new holiday favorites by the hearthside in
the Children's Room.

December 16

Holiday Concert, Performed by the Manchester Singers, Sacred Heart Church, 5:00 p.m. Adults-$8, Seniors and children under 18-$5.

December 19

Middle School Winter Concert, Memorial School, 7:30 p.m.

December 24

Christmas Festival of Music on North Shore 104.9 FM from 6:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve through midnight on Christmas Day.
